We have been hard at work putting together the new coworkingseattle.org website and it's time to get together and talk about the bigger coworking picture here. If you are interested in coworking, want to start a space or just want to learn more about what we are doing. Join us on the 16th of December at 7:00pm. This event will be at Office Nomads on Capital Hill -1617 Boylston Ave, Suite 200. You may also RSVP at upcoming. Bring beer/wine to share. Join us on Facebook.

Welcome to Coworking: SEATTLE! We put together this site to provide a place for people interested in building a coworking network here in Seattle. We see this site becoming a place to list available coworking options as well as serving as a platform on which new spaces can emerge.

We’ve left this site relatively bare to start out. That’s intentional because our experience in the coworking movement has taught us that at the heart of every coworking space are the people that build it and use it each day. This is not just some empty platitude. As the international coworking movement grows, most every space owner (including us) has found that it is essential to first build the community then build the coworking space to match the community's needs. This site is intended to be a tool to do just that.

How do I get started?

1. Learn about coworking! First things first, head over to the International Coworking Wiki and the Coworking Google Group. People are opening spaces all over the world and love to talk about how it's all coming together. There are great discussions that cover the full spectrum from space creation to everyday life in a coworking space.

2. Create a profile here on Coworking Seattle. It's easy to register and create a profile. Then you can upload a picture, and link in your twitter account if you have one. Only registered users can start discussions or list coworking spaces. A profile is not required to post comments.

3. Start a conversation. We hope that conversations will begin here on Coworking Seattle, and will then continue in person either at Jellys or within already existing coworking spaces throughout Seattle. That way we can build momentum and launch new spaces when we merge our online thoughts with in-person action and collaboration.

Where are you at?

- Space Owner - I've got a space already. Excellent! Go ahead and add yourself to the Space Directory. You can also head over to the Discussion Forums to see what new and potential coworkers are looking for, post questions and start discussions with other owners and coworkers. You should also check out the blog. Let us know if you’d like to become an author.

- Space Catalyst - I'm eager to start up my own space! You have come to the right place. A good place to start is to check out the Discussion Forum to see who is also interested in the same areas and ideas you are. You can also start a discussion to get the ball rolling. If you have a group formed already you can list your soon-to-be-space in the Space Directory and talk about what you are building.

- Coworker - I'm a regular at coworking spaces! Give your favorite spaces a shout-out in the Space Directory. The best way fellow coworkers can get a feel for each space is through feedback from people working there. Add a comment and show the love.

- Just Interested - Curious and seeking more info! Keep an eye on things here and in our blog. You can also follow us on twitter.
